Packaging should reflect the value of the item it encloses, but we must stop the wastefulness.
David Gratton, the founder of DEQQ Apparel, loves unboxing new Apple products. “It feels like luxury and something special,” he says.
“It also wracks me with guilt after. I’m loath to throw out the box it comes in. It feels so wasteful. I don’t want to be part of something like that.”
David contacted fellow Vancouverite, Felix Böck, the founder of ChopValue to help solve the problem.
“David contacted me to design a unique box and unpackaging experience for DEQQ Apparel. It needed to feel like luxury and have zero waste. This approach to packaging shares my ethos and I was excited to take on the challenge.”
The packaging is made of high-performance, engineered bamboo that is 100% recycled and biodegradable. More importantly, the custom-designed box is a handcrafted work of art that you can use and display prominently in your home. We hope you keep and use it, but if you would rather not, just send it back to us (we will pay the postage) and we will credit your account for $50 and reuse the box for your next purchase!
